OSHA Personal Protective Equipment
OSHA 29CFR 1910.132 requires that "each affected employee shall demonstrate an understanding ... and the ability to use PPE properly, BEFORE being allowed to perform work requiring the use of PPE"
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
- is equipment worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses
EXAMPLES include:
Gloves, Safety glasses, Face shield, Masks, Shoes, Earplugs or Muffs, Hard hats, Respirators, Coveralls, HazMat suits
This Personal Protective Equipment course will:
- Educate employees on how to properly use, maintain, and dispose of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Fulfil the requirement for initial training for new hires
- Fulfil the requirement due to:
- Changes in the workplace
- Changes in the types of PPE being used
- Inadequacies of an affected employee's knowledge or use
The training includes:
v Identifying hazards
v Selecting appropriate PPE
v Donning and doffing PPE
v Understanding the limitations of PPE
v Proper care & maintenance
v Disposing of PPE
Employee trainings are conducted either In Person, Online or Live Virtual web training led by our Biomed OSHA Authorized Trainer
- Opportunity for interactive questions and answers with the consultant conducting the training session
- Sign-in sheets and outline provided
- Certificate of Completion
OSHA further requires in 1910.132(d)(2) that:
"The employer shall verify that the required workplace hazard assessment has been performed through a written certification that identifies the workplace evaluated; the person certifying that the evaluation has been performed; the date(s) of the hazard assessment; and, which identifies the document as a certification of hazard assessment."
