Section 381.00775, Florida Statutes (F.S.), and Chapter 64E-28, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.) require persons seeking licensure as a tattoo artist to complete an educational course approved by the department on blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases and achieving at least 70% on an examination covering the materials in the course.

How do I schedule the in-person training?

Once you have purchased a seat to our course, we will send an email confirming your spot along with the address and curriculum for the course

 *It is important that you specify who will be attending the training (at checkout) as that person will need to bring a valid state or federal identification prior to beginning the course

Our training session is specific for the tattoo industry and includes:

  • Definitions
  • Standard Precautions
  • Methods to Prevent Transmission in a tattoo setting
  • Blood-borne Pathogens and other Communicable Diseases (including Identification, Description, Modes of Transmission, Incubation Period, Period of Communicability)
  • Managing Biomedical Waste  
  • Written Examination 

Biomed provides certificates to participants completing the course to document fulfilling their requirements according to the Florida Department of Health regulations, 64E-28.


  • A valid government issued picture ID is required to participate in the course

* This course is approved by the Florida Department of Health for tattoo artist licensure under Section 381.0775, F.S. and Chapter 64E-28 F.A.C.

A Tattoo Artist License requires the following:

  • Completed Application for Tattoo Artist License ($60, local county health department may charge additional fee).
    • The Application must be completed with the name of the licensed tattoo establishment where the tattoo artist will perform tattooing or intends to perform tattooing.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Copy of government-issued photo ID
  • Completion of the required bloodborne pathogen and communicable diseases course for tattoo artist (minimum of 70% score required)
    • Submit Certificate of Completion
